Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Antonio Fernandez is a cross-disciplinary artist now based in Edinburgh, Scotland. His multicultural upbringing and life across several countries inform his exploration of spirituality, religion, and identity.
After completing art school, Antonio studied theology for a year at the Independent Baptist Bible College in Telford, England. A transformative module in Hermeneutics opened his eyes to interpreting texts within their original language, culture, and context—a perspective that profoundly influenced how he approaches and interprets art.
Inspired by artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Hilma af Klint, and Bill Viola, Antonio’s work engages with complex narratives drawn from sacred texts, mythologies, and contemporary issues. He has exhibited widely across Birmingham and Edinburgh, contributing to vibrant conversations around faith, politics, and human experience.
