Artist Bio

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Antonio Fernandez is a painter based in Edinburgh, Scotland. His multicultural upbringing — spanning Venezuela, Jamaica, and several European countries — shapes a practice that sits at the intersection of sacred imagery and contemporary abstraction.

After completing art school he studied theology for a year at the Independent Baptist Bible College in Telford, England. A transformative module in Hermeneutics deeply influenced his approach to interpreting symbols and texts.

As a second-year student he curated an exhibition in Birmingham that was featured in the Birmingham Mail, Metro, and Birmingham Post (201X). One of his works was also selected among only 18 pieces for the Light Cycle festival at Birmingham City University and displayed across the city. He has since exhibited at the Music Museum in Edinburgh and has been featured in a prominent Edinburgh magazine.

Upcoming exhibitions include Volterra Art Week 2026 in Italy, where three large-scale paintings will be shown as part of the group exhibition.
